Welcome to the Crossing Inn — the oldest licensed venue in the Kimberley. Set on the banks of the Fitzroy River and surrounded by native bushland, the Inn has stood proudly on this site since 1897, preserving the charm and character of a bygone era. Established on 5 July 1897 by Joseph Blythe as a humble “shanty inn and trade store,” the Crossing Inn quickly became a vital stop for prospectors, bullock team drivers, cattle drovers, and local residents. For well over a century, it has continued to welcome travellers and locals alike. Today, the Crossing Inn is not only rich in history but also a vital cultural landmark.
A previous unique community initiativeo had local youth invited to paint murals on the exterior walls of the 100-year-old hotel. These artworks transformed the building into an open-air gallery, celebrating the region’s heritage, stories, and artistic talent—making it a must-see attraction in its own right. Known as “a pub with personality,” the Crossing Inn has even earned a spot among Western Australia’s Top 10 pubs worth going out of your way for.
